Panathinaikos in talks with Manchester United to finalise deal for Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri on permanent deal

The 22-year-old winger has had a tough time, mostly playing on the bench, starting just four games last season, with a number of players in his position competing for his place and inevitably limiting his opportunities.

On Sunday that Panathinaikos had reached an agreement in principle with the Uruguay international on a four-year contract.

The Greek club have agreed to pay a €6million (£5.1m) fee with up to €2m in add-ons based on his future performance.

United retain a 45 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement and a buy-back option, which is valid for the next three years.

Negotiations are continuing as the player only has one year left on his contract.
